Create and test a change
Your first workflow - Stage 4 of 5
Map your source values to the target and verify one selected operation.
Before you begin, complete Match and select records.
Create the mapping
- In Output > Mappings, select Add.
- Choose the target System, Target table, and appropriate Function.
- Enter a descriptive name and select Save.
- On the Mapping tab, select the filter you created.
The function must match the target table and the operation you intend to perform. See Create a mapping.
Review the target values
- Map values from the Items pane to the target attributes in Attribute Mapping.
- Populate the required attributes, shown in bold.
- If needed, use name generators or password generators.
- Inspect the values for your selected record, including the identifier and destination.
- Save the mapping.
Check before running: The selected record, operation, attributes, and target location all match your intended change.
Run one selected operation
A mapping test run writes a real record to the target system. It does not update NIM's Vault data. Confirm the selected record and destination are within the scope chosen by the implementing administrator.
- Open the mapping's Run tab.
- Select one pending operation in the Operation pane.
- Select Run Selected Item.
- Review the result in the Item pane.
Confirm the result
- Open the target system and locate the changed account or record.
- Check its identifier, destination, and mapped attributes.
- Review any errors before attempting another operation.
- Collect and load the target again so NIM can work with the updated target data.
- Recheck the filter. For a create-only workflow, the newly matched account should no longer qualify for creation.
First success: One intended change exists in the target, and the refreshed data reflects it.
