System configuration guide

Save a system configuration as a scenario so you can test changes and restore a known configuration when needed.

About configuration scenarios​

Configuration scenarios let you save a system's configuration as a reusable snapshot. This is useful when testing a different configuration while keeping a working version available to restore.

Not every connector supports configuration scenarios. When supported, NIM may include a default scenario supplied by the connector.

Save the current configuration as a scenario​

  1. Open the system you want to save.
  2. Select Scenario in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Add to save the current system configuration as a new scenario.

Use scenarios for controlled testingSave a scenario before changing tables, settings, or other connector configuration so you can return to the saved version if the test does not produce the expected result.

Load a saved scenario​

  1. Open Scenario for the system.
  2. Select the play button next to the scenario you want to load.
  3. In the confirmation window, choose whether to create a backup scenario of the current configuration.
  4. Confirm the change to replace the current system configuration with the selected scenario.

  • Give scenarios a clear name that describes their intended configuration or test.
  • Create a backup scenario before loading a different configuration when you may need to restore your current work.
  • After loading a scenario, collect the system and confirm that the expected tables and data are available.
